Hello Everyone, and welcome to the first entry for the Liv Graham Photography blog!
This is just to give a little introduction to my blog and tell you what I'm all about!
Firstly, let me just give some background. I have been interested in photography ever since I got my first digital camera when I was about 7 years old, but of course back then I was mostly just intrigued by the new technology available to me. However, when I got my first bridge camera in 2012, I became truly hooked, taking pictures of anyone and everything, just to see what I could achieve. However, I never really thought of it as a career until I got to my third year of University, when somebody turned to me and asked "what are you most passionate about? What do you really want to do?". I had to take a moment, and all I could think about was my passion for photography. As much as I tried to prioritise business and the subject areas I was looking into for my degree, I just could not feel as strongly about them. That is when I knew that I wanted to pursue photography on a larger scale, so I took on more projects and got a few commissions, and now I am wanting to branch out and share my photos with the world.
So here I am! Ready and excited to share my passion and my efforts with you. I wanted to start a blog because I personally feel there is more to this craft than just photographing events and working from a studio. I'm not saying those areas of the photography business are invaluable or boring, far from it, I have worked in those situations on several occasions and have enjoyed them very much. But photography is and always will be, first and foremost, a hobby for me. It is a hobby I like to include in my everyday life as much as possible. So while this is a career I am so excited to pursue, my love for photography will always go beyond the job. This is why I decided to start a blog. I wanted the opportunity to post about my adventures and personal projects, as well as my client-based work.
So now time to introduce the theme of my blog. A theme is usually given to blogs to help coordinate and add coherence to the articles. But I know myself, and I know I get inspiration from a variety of areas, so it was hard for me to settle for one theme I could stick to wholeheartedly, without narrowing my horizons. However, I did manage to come up with one theme in particular which covers everything I want it to, and fits in completely with my personal goal for my photography:
"Ordinary into Extraordinary"
I came up with this idea when I asked myself "what do I really want to show with my blog?", and I realised this has always been my main goal. My overall favourite part of photography is the fact that you have the opportunity to take perfectly ordinary, everyday objects, views or settings, and turn them into something amazing, inspiring, and emotional, and that is something I always want to achieve. Therefore through this blog, I will be able to follow this vision of mine and it will even inspire me to do so more than ever. Whether I am travelling, working, or just going about everyday life, I will aim to find images that arouse emotion and surprise from my viewers, and motivate me to keep on exploring!
